How it works
Who it's for
Pubs, bars, cafés, restaurants, salons, gyms, studios, clubs and hotels with one to three sites that would rather someone else dealt with PPL PRS. Opening a new venue? The Opening Package sets up your licence and includes your first year. Running four or more sites? Our estate options are the better fit.
Questions
Which plan do I need?
Essentials (£99 a year) if you only play background music, like a salon, café, shop, office or quiet pub. Venue (£249 a year) if you have live music, DJs, classes, functions or events: those mean more to declare and more changes during the year. Not sure? Ask, and we'll tell you before you pay.
What if my licence is already right?
Then the free check tells you so, and you owe nothing. Licence Watch is for people who would rather not deal with PPL PRS themselves: we handle anything that comes up during the year and check next year's renewal before you pay it.
I'm opening a new venue. Is set-up included?
Setting up a new licence is our Opening Package: £199, or £399 for venues, and it includes your first year of Licence Watch. We tell you exactly what to declare, handle the application with PPL PRS for you, and look after it from there.
Do I still pay PPL PRS?
Yes. Your licence fee is paid to PPL PRS as normal. Licence Watch is our fee for managing it on your behalf. We never handle your licence payments.
How does renewal and cancellation work?
Licence Watch runs for a year and renews each year. We'll remind you before it renews. Cancel before your renewal date and it won't renew; the service carries on to the end of the year you've paid for.
What isn't included?
Disputes over backdated or prior-use claims are a separate £249 Claim Review. Groups with four or more sites are better served by our Estate Review or Estate Watch.
Are you part of PPL PRS?
No. Music Licence Consulting is an independent business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of PPL PRS Ltd, PRS for Music or PPL. We work for you.
Licence Watch is an annual service for up to 3 sites. Essentials is £99 a year for the first site and £49 a year for each additional site; Venue is £249 a year for the first site and £99 a year for each additional site. It renews each year until you cancel; cancelling stops the next renewal. We're not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to our fees. Your PPL PRS licence fee is separate and paid to PPL PRS. Run personally by Matt Mayo. Full terms are on our terms page. MLC is independent, not affiliated with PPL PRS Ltd, PRS for Music or PPL.
